Ep.29: Grace Lee Boggs

A Dove Tale: Grace Lee Boggs was an Asian American activist, writer and leader spending much of her life working in Detroit, Michigan advocating for Asian Americans, African Americans, Vietnam veterans, workers’ rights and the environment.   Ms. Boggs, fostered Dr. King’s vision of “beloved communities,” striving for racial and economic justice through nonconfrontational methods. As Detroit’s economy and population declined sharply over the years, Ms. Boggs became a prominent symbol of resistance to the spreading blight.  Grace once wrote “We can begin by doing small things at the local level, like planting community gardens or looking out for our neighbors. That is how change takes place in living systems: not from above but from within, from many local actions occurring simultaneously.”
