House GOP Defy Trump, Pass Bill Without Debt Limit Demand

The latest plan would extend government funding into March and includes disaster relief and farming provisions, but does not include a suspension of the debt limit, which President-elect Donald Trump has been demanding that Republicans address. This was “Plan C” for GOP lawmakers. Trump torpedoed a bipartisan deal earlier this week, and then a Trump-backed plan that would have suspended the debt limit also failed in the House on Thursday.
