Purity, holiness, and the destruction of sin are all vital components of our personal growth and development. Our lives are like a long-distance race that requires patience, persistence, and hard work. But with every small step forward, we are building habits and making changes that will last a lifetime.

What does a sin-free life look like? How can making sacrifices propel us forward? In this episode of the Kingdom Flow Podcast, hosts Kyle Jones and Ian Spencer talk about sacrificing our fleshly desires to serve not ourselves, but God.

Here are some power takeaways from today’s conversation:

  • Living intentionally and staying disciplined with faith in the center
  • Subtle changes leading to tremendous growth
  • Unbelievable blessings for those that recognize sin
  • A strong foundation to share the kingdom mentality
  • Sin in the form of apathy and ignorance

Episode Highlights:

[10:04] Walking in Righteousness

Kyle talks about the example of Joshua, where God showed a miracle by collapsing the walls of Jericho with just the power of His people’s voices. But when Joshua and the people encountered one minor setback, they questioned God’s intentions. The people chose not to listen and obey God, and their sins brought them to their destruction.

[16:53] Taking Action and Moving Forward

Joshua knew that their defeat was because of sin in their camp, and cried. However, he already knows what the problem is, so he should find the sin and figure it out. Ian then relates this scene to the present, where business owners and moms and dads ask, “Why is it not working? What’s the problem? Why am I not blessed?” There is something in our lives that is blocking His presence, blocking the flow, and most of the listeners already know what it is.

[19:52] Put Your Faith in God

Kyle shares that praying but not actively doing anything about what you wish for is holding us back. When we do that, we truly don’t put our faith and hope in God. He advises, we have to check ourselves constantly, and we also have to have an accountability partner. Ian adds that purification and purging are happening around us, because God wants to elevate us in righteousness.

[32:12] Reprioritization

Change can be done quickly if people are willing to expose areas where there is sin, and make the necessary changes. Those changes may be subtle but after some time, people will be able to look back and see how far they have come. When experiencing personal and work-related problems, it’s most likely because of sin. It’s best to remove sin and work towards a faith-based standard of living to receive blessings. Kyle recommends to just start—prioritize your word, your quiet time, your time with your spouse. Living a life for God requires sacrifice and putting aside one’s own desires in order to serve Him and advance His kingdom.

Notable Quotes:

[28:50] “God wants to elevate us in righteousness.”

[36:53] “You’re wondering why things in the home are not right. You’re wondering why your business is not succeeding or moving at the rate it should. You’re wondering why you’re not climbing the ladder or why everyone else seems to be passing you up. It’s because most likely, there’s sin in the camp.”

[47:36] “A little sacrifice goes a long way.”
