CW: Abuse, Drug Use.

This episode deals with heavy topics as noted in the content warning. Please do not listen to this episode if you find either of those topics triggering.

April and Troy come from very different backgrounds. Troy was heavily involved in the drug game while April was involved in church. Even when everyone tried to convince April to give up on Troy, before and during marriage, she stayed with him because of her faith in God. Outside of Troy’s affiliation with the drug life, the two also struggled with infidelity and abuse. However, knowing that there was a reason God had placed April in Troy’s life, that was enough for her to keep fighting for the relationship and eventually Troy gained his own relationship with God. The Lawrence’s also discuss the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina in 2005 while living in Louisiana and how that was an added stressor on the relationship and their family dynamic as a whole. Though they’ve been through a lot, they somehow continue to find a way to push forward.
