Reusable Menstrual Products In The Period Aisle

podcast August 9, 2021

Background

A person who menstruates uses anywhere from 108 to 504 menstrual products in a year.

If you were one of the lucky box owners of our 4th release, then you received the reusable aisle pads from our box partner, Period Aisle.

Aisle pads are a cloth pad that feels just like your most comfortable pair of underwear but can hold up to even your heaviest days.

This week, I am joined by the CEO of Period Aisle Suzanne Siemens to talk about her own feminine hygiene journey and the formation of Period Aisle. We all know there is a period aisle in every pharmacy, grocery store, even 7/11…but we aren’t seeing the items on the shelf that are healthy for our bodies.

We chat about what chemicals are In disposable mensural products like dioxins, bleaches, acetones, and these super absorbent polymers—which are a kind of this manufactured styrofoam that is used to absorb all the blood and catch the discharge.

You can also expect to hear:
– alternative health modalities
– How midwives are covered by the medical system in Vancouver, British Columbia
– Obstacles of pregnancy
– The importance of monitoring the flow of your period
