The town of Nutbush, Tennessee, is preparing to build a statue in honor of Tina Turner. The statue will be located in the town square and is expected to be completed in early 2024. Turner was born in Nutbush in 1939 and grew up there until she was 16 years old. She is a world-renowned singer, songwriter, and actress who has sold over 200 million records worldwide.

Ralph Yarl, the 17-year-old boy who was shot by a 84 year old man outside of his home in January, is showing signs of progress. Yarl attended a fundraiser for brain injury resources on May 28 and was able to speak to the crowd. He is still recovering from his injuries, but he is making progress.

A 28-year-old woman named Dr. Eli Joseph has become the youngest black professor to simultaneously teach at Columbia University, New York university, and the University of California, Los Angeles.

Howard University will be hosting a girls’ lacrosse camp this summer thanks to a donation from Nike. The camp will be free for all girls who attend and will be led by current and former Howard lacrosse players. The camp is part of Nike’s breaking barriers initiative, which is designed to empower girls and women through sports.

In addition to these topics, Amanda Seales also discussed a variety of other topics on her podcast, including the importance of self-care, the need for more diversity in Hollywood, and the challenges of being a Black woman in America.

The Amanda Seales Show is a daily podcast that is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and other major podcast platforms. The show is a mix of interviews, comedy, and discussion about current events. Seales is a funny, intelligent, and engaging host who always has something interesting to say.
