Trump investigations loom over midterms

The list of ex-Trump White House officials critical of the former president’s handling of government records continues to grow. Former Vice President Mike Pence’s Chief of Staff, Marc Short, joins CNN Tonight to discuss how the investigations into Trump are overtaking the GOP’s narrative that the midterms are a referendum on Biden, his insight into Pence’s considerations for 2024, and if he thinks Pence will “testify voluntarily” before the January 6 Committee when it resumes hearings this month.

The panel discusses what’s behind former Attorney General Bill Barr’s apparent shift on Trump and the DOJ, after he criticized the judge’s special master ruling on the Mar-a-Lago investigation as “deeply flawed” and his view that the DOJ is “getting very close” to indicting the former president. Plus, the Obamas return to the White House to unveil their official portraits, and a top official says Jackson, Mississippi faces a “Public health, social justice and economic” crisis from the ongoing water emergency there.
