The Preacher’s Wife is a 1996 American Christmas comedy-drama film directed by Penny Marshall and starring Denzel Washington, Whitney Houston, and Courtney B. Vance. It is a remake of the 1947 film The Bishop’s Wife,[2] which in turn was based on the 1928 novel of the same name by Robert Nathan.

A cleric begins to doubt himself and is visited by an angel. The heavenly emissary is supposed to help the good reverend over his midlife crisis, but he is distracted by the cleric’s lovely young wife. A remake with gospel music of the `The Bishop’s Wife’.
