“Fire on the Foundation”

Foundations are what keep a structure upright. If appropriately laid, a structure can last for years. On the other hand, if the foundation is not laid correctly, infrastructural damage will be imminent, and the structure will eventually collapse.
In 1 Corinthians 3:10-16, we read of the importance of a solid foundation, which is Jesus Christ. When we lay a foundation in Him, allowing Him to be the most important and prominent part of our lives, we will see the benefits. If we try to lay a foundation and build a life on anything besides Him, we are setting ourselves up for failure.
There’s an old hymn that says:
“My hope is built on nothing less, Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame, But wholly lean on Jesus’ name
On Christ the solid rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand.”
-My Hope is Built on Nothing Less
Christ is our solid rock. He is our firm foundation. Nothing else–not our money, titles, degrees, cars, houses, economic status, or political views will be a solid foundation like Jesus will be.
